Who We Are

Design doesn’t have to be overwhelming; and a beautiful home doesn’t require a full renovation. We believe in the power of styling: thoughtful furnishings, meaningful décor, textures, color, and a few well-chosen pieces that turn a house into a home.

At Kari’d Away Interiors, we blend modern simplicity with curated vintage character, creating spaces that feel layered, cozy, and uniquely you.

Kari freedus

Co-Founder & Principal Stylist

A woman with long brown hair, wearing a black and white striped shirt, smiling in an indoor setting.

An Austin local for the past 16 years and originally from Southern California, Kari has always been drawn to spaces that feel warm, lived-in, and full of character. Her passion for interior styling began early - shaped by years spent wandering flea markets, antique malls, and estate sales, searching for pieces with history and soul.

After losing her childhood home in a wildfire, Kari developed a deep appreciation for the meaning objects can hold and the comfort a thoughtfully styled space can bring. That experience, paired with a lifelong eye for design, became the foundation of her approach today: creating spaces that feel personal, grounded, and uniquely yours.

Before launching Kari’d Away Interiors, Kari spent 15 years working in the tech world. Eventually, she decided to follow the path she’d always been meant for - bringing her love of design, intuition for mixing old and new, and her signature warm, curated aesthetic to clients across Austin and beyond.

Kari specializes in blending vintage treasures with modern pieces to create spaces that feel soulful, functional, and beautifully lived-in. For her, styling is more than design - it’s storytelling.

Chanel Piper

Co-Founder & Operations Director

A woman with long wavy brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin, smiling, wearing a gray shirt with darker sleeves, standing against a dark background.

Chanel lives at the intersection of structure and imagination. She is the one who builds the Kari’d Away Interior’s systems, sorts the details, and keeps the moving parts aligned, yet she still carries the creative instinct she had as a kid dreaming up costumes and stories. That mix gives her a steady hand in a field that often leans on intuition and impulse. Her own home office reflects that same rhythm, with fresh flowers and a rotating mix of art that keeps her focused and inspired.

Her background in project management shapes the way she works client refreshes. She’s at her best when she is organizing chaos, keeping timelines tight, and guiding a design from idea to execution. Chanel gravitates toward dark academia and industrial interiors – loving the weight of old books, textured walls, and what she calls dilapidated glamour. The overlap with Kari’s style gives designs harmony, while the differences give projects a broader range for clients and keeps sourcing trips interesting!

Most clients interact with Chanel via email and meet her on installation day. Her role isn’t about being visible; it’s about building a business that feels inclusive, thoughtful, and grounded in real values.
